Step-by-Step Process to make Creme Caramel Cake

Step #1

Set your oven by preheating it to 350°F. Take a 9-inch cake pan and grease it with cooking spray.

Step #2

Take a pan and put it on the stove. Add 1 cup of sugar and ¼ cup of water to the pan and turn on the stove. In medium heat, keep stirring until the sugar dissolves in the water. Continue stirring until the mixture turns amber in color. Now, your caramel sauce is ready.

Step #3

Spread the caramel sauce to cover the bottom of the prepared cake pan before adding it to the pan. Keep it aside to cool down

Step #4

Mix the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.

Step #5

Take another large bowl, and add egg yolks and 1 cup sugar to the bowl. Beat them well until a thick and light mixture forms. It’s time to add milk and vanilla extract. Add them and mix them well.

Step #6

Add flour to the egg mixture and mix them well.

Step #7

Beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form in another bowl.

Step #8

When there are no longer any white streaks in the cake batter, gently fold the egg whites in.

Step #9

Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan over the cooled caramel sauce.

Step #10

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step #11

While the cake is baking, prepare the custard which you can call creme as well. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk, sugar, and salt over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.

Step #12

In a small bowl, mix the egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture, and keep stirring constantly.

Step #13

Return the custard mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

Step #14

Over the cooled caramel sauce, pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan.

Step #15

Put a toothpick into the center of the cake. If nothing comes out clean after 35 to 40 minutes of baking, it means the cake is great.

Step #16
Make the custard while the cake bakes. Heat the milk, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved.

Step #17
Mix The egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla essence in a small bowl. While continuously whisking, slowly add the heated milk mixture to the egg yolk mixture.

Step #18
Place the custard mixture back in the saucepan. Cook the mixture over medium heat, constantly stirring, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

Step #19
Take the cake out of the oven, and let it cool at room temperature. After the cake has cooled, transfer it onto a serving platter.

Step #20
Before serving, place the cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour and top it with custard.

Step #21
Enjoy the cake with your family!
